The Lagos State Police Command has said it would arraign 12 suspected killers of CSP Kazeem Abonde, the officer who was lynched by a mob at Ajao Estate, Isolo in September.
The suspects, some of whom were arrested in Nasarawa State, would be brought before a Yaba Magistrate’s Court on November 17, a statement by spokesman, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu said yesterday night.
The Nation last month reported the arrest of six suspects in Nasarawa by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, following intensive investigation that involved forensic analysis of video exhibits
followed a four-week diligent investigation by crack detectives who followed leads to Nasarawa State where some of the suspects fled to.
“The suspects, who confessed to the crimes of conspiracy to wit murder, murder, attempted murder and wilful damage were arrested in their criminal hideouts in Lagos and Nasarawa States where they were hibernating to evade arrest after the dastardly act.
“All the suspects will be arraigned at the Yaba Magistrate Court on Wednesday 17th November, 2021,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu promised diligent prosecution of the case, appealed to the public to continue to volunteer useful information to the police to enable the agency apprehend criminals.
