Hussein Ejibunu, Acting Controller of the Federal Operations Unit(FOU) Zone A Lagos has disclosed that additional 16 Toyota Hilux vehicles recently given to the unit by Nigeria Customs Service headquarters have strengthened the unit’s fight against smuggling.

While thanking the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hammed Ali for the approval, Ejibunu said the vehicles will aid the capacity of his operatives to patrol more areas in it’s anti smuggling duties.

The acting Controller who described the Hilux vehicles fully fitted with necessary gadgets as morale boosters, also disclosed that additional men were about being deployed to the unit to beef up it’s capacity.

Ejibunu who described the vehicles as coming very timely said, “Obviously before now, we were having problems with vehicles but now the CGC has magnanimously given us sixteen at once. Which means he is determined to ensure that we succeed and this no doubt, will boost our morale in combating Smuggling”.

The Deputy Comptroller also promised to cut off the “supply chain” of smugglers as he promise to get to the roots of sponsors of smuggling.
