An engineering yard belonging to Fenog Nigeria Limited was partly gutted by fire on Monday morning, causing panic among residents and business owners in Effurun, Uvwie council area of Delta State.
The incident occurred around 9 am inside the fenced yard by St. Mary’s Junction, along Airport Road.
The cause of the fire could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
It was gathered that two vehicles were destroyed in the blazing fire that lasted for over an hour.
The prompt response of the firefighters prevented the situation from getting worse, The Nation learnt.
Workers of a Microfinance Bank which shares boundary with the yard were said to have scampered for safety and made efforts to evacuate some valuables from the banking hall over fears that the raging inferno may spread to the building.
