The Anambra State Joint Security Force said it has recovered nine home-made bombs, and four walkie-talkies from criminal elements in the state, and extended its manhunt for unknown criminals and gunmen attacking security formations in the state to Ogbaru forest.
Under the security operations, it said that locations around Amiyi and Ochuche were combed for the insurgents, as troops of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy completely routed out the hoodlums from their hideouts in the forest.
A statement from the PPRO Anambra State Police Command stated that “several camps were found and destroyed during the operation which lasted several hours last Friday.” “Nine Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), recovered from the camps were safely defused by Police Bomb Squad,” the Command said. The state Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, in swift reaction to the milestone recorded by the Joint Security forces, commended the military for its steadfastness in supporting the fight against criminality.
He also thanked the DSS, NSCDC, NDLEA, NIS and various other vigilance groups across the state for what he called the wonderful synergy that is already yielding fantastic results in keeping Anambra State safe. The CP, however, warned cultists running amok in the state to be aware that their days are numbered, even as he warned that security would not fold its hands and watch them destabilise the state in the name of cult ri- valry leading to fatalities.”
