BREAKING! Lagos Police Arrests Elusive Serial Killer, Cultists Kingpin

It was jubilation galore for officers and men of Badia Police Station and residents of Badia in Ijora area of Lagos on Friday morning, as they engaged in celebration spree following the arrest of a notorious most wanted cultists kingpin identified as Taiye Ogbede, popularly known as JP.

He is said to be the leader of the Aiye Confraternity sect in Ijora and its environ and renowned for his elusiveness.

Our correspondent learnt that the suspect, said to have killed no fewer than 20 members of his rivals, has been on the wanted list of the police for over 10 years.

It was exclusively gathered that JP was apprehended at about 10.00am in front of the Police Station located on Fadaini road, Badia while walking towards Ijora bus stop, along with some members of his gang.

Several efforts by operatives of the Division at apprehending him in time past had proved abortive until the deployment of a new Divisional Police Officer SP Wale Oloko recently, who vowed to wipe away all criminal elements within the area.

According to eye witness, the suspect was accosted by one of the cops popularly known as Commander, who bravely arrested him amid resistance, while other members of the gang fled.

Also known as “captain”, our correspondent reliably learnt that Taiye is a son of the son, born in Badia by a renowned pastor of the white garment church, who died last year after a brief illness.

Information at our disposal revealed that he had been a member of the same Confraternity gang in Bariga area of the state, but relocated to Badia after the death, arrest and imprisonment of most of the gang members about five years ago.

Since his return to Badia, it was learnt that no fewer than 20 members of the “Eiye Confraternity” group have been killed by the suspect and his gang members.

Known to be a terror and dreadful, he was said to have carried out most of his operations in broad day light with assorted riffles, which include locally made pistols and other dangerous weapons

His recent atrocity according to findings was the brutal murder of a member of the “Eiye Confraternity” popularly known as Big Sam.

As reliably learnt, Taiye in company of his gang members identified as Legacy, Tosho, Tuwo and two others traced the late Big Sam to Kayode street off Ireti Owoseni street Badia, at about noon, on Wednesday 17th July, 2024, shot him while running away and butchered him severally before abandoning his lifeless body.

Police operatives from Badia Police Station were said to have evacuated the body and deposited it at the morgue of Mainland General Hospital, Yaba.

Consequent upon the incident, police operatives attached to the Commissioner of Police Tactical Team 2nd Rainbow, Amuwo Odofin carried out a raid of the area and its environ, where a suspect identified as Dayo, believed to be a member of “Aiye Confraternity” was arrested.

Three days later, Tosho, one of Taiye’s accomplice during the killing of Big Sam was reportedly arrested during a burglary operation by detectives attached to Badia Division and transferred to CP Tactical Team 2nd Rainbow for investigation.

As learnt, in the course of interrogation, both Dayo and Tosho were said to have fingered Taiye as the ring leader of Aiye Confraternity in Ijora Badia and revealed some of his known atrocities.

Findings further revealed Taiye maintained two dungeons known as Canada and underground at White sand area behind Bola Ahmed Tinubu Trailer Park Orile, where he disposes body parts of slaughtered opponents, before the area was dismantled last year by former DPO of Badia Police Station CSP Ayoola Olawole.

Efforts to get the reaction of the Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command SP Benjamin Hundeyin proved abortive as he neither picked his calls or respond to enquiry sent to him via WhatsApp as the time of filing the report.

However, an impeccable senior police officer confirmed the arrest of the suspect, saying he has been detained pending further directive.

“Yes, JP has been arrested by our men this morning. His is presently in the cell, this is a big catch for us.”, the officer who crafted anonymity simply said.
