A tragic incident occurred in Burra, Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, where a personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kabiru Abubakar, allegedly killed his colleague and close friend, Aliyu Chiroma, following a dispute over lunch.
The altercation reportedly began when Chiroma brought food for lunch, and Abubakar insisted on sharing the meal against Chiroma’s will. The disagreement quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. According to an eyewitness, “They exchanged words, which escalated into a fight. Kabiru headbutted Aliyu, causing him to fall to the ground.”
Chiroma was rushed to Burra General Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Aminu Ahmed, the Spokesperson of NCoS Bauchi Command, confirmed the incident, noting that it took place outside the correctional facility. He added that both men were stationed at the Burra Correctional Center, and the body of the deceased has been handed over to his family for burial.
Nasiru Zakari, Chairman of Ningi Local Government, also confirmed the incident, describing it as an unfortunate event that arose from a disagreement during lunch. The matter is currently under investigation.
