The Commissioner of Police in charge of Lagos State Police Command, Mr. Abiodun Alabi has ordered the X-Squad department to commence the investigation on the case of an alleged detention and torturing of a housewife, Mrs. Happiness Liberty and her family including an 11-month-old baby at the Igando division.
The Lagos State Police Spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this in a tweet on his official Twitter handled @BenHundeyin, Tuesday tweeted: “The entire family is at the Police Headquarters as I tweet this (I won’t post their picture for their privacy). The DPO and another officer involved are also here. The X-Squad department of the Command has commenced in-depth investigations”.
Sahara Reporters had published on its twitter page that, “A housewife, Mrs. Happiness Liberty, has accused the Nigeria Police Force of torturing, detaining herself, her husband, his siblings, her three children including an 11-month-old baby at the Igando division in Lagos State.
“The mother of three, a resident of Igando in Alimosho Local Government of Lagos State, who narrated her ordeal to SaharaReporters noted that after the injuries inflicted on them including their children, the police went ahead and arraigned the family to cover up for the torture.
“She said that their arraignment was to justify her incarceration with her children in police custody for days with accompanying threats not to grant any interview to the media or her husband and siblings would be killed.
“Happiness said their ordeal started from Sunday September 11, 2022, adding that they were tortured and for four days from 11 to 14 September, 2022 without food or water”….
