Driver Nabbed In Lagos For Illegal Possession Of Weapons

On Thursday, the operatives of the Lagos State Police Command‘s Maroko Division took into custody a driver identified as Azeez Babatunde after recovering guns from his minibus.

Confirming the development, the Command Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement made available to New Telegraph said the incident occurred in the early hour of Thursday, adding that an investigation is currently ongoing on the case.

He wrote, “At about 5 am, anti-crime patrol officers from Maroko Division noticed a minibus do a quick u-turn upon sighting them on Hakeem Dickson Street. The officers went in pursuit.

“Six persons jumped out of the vehicle, running in different directions.

“The officers caught up with the vehicle and arrested the only person left in the vehicle, the driver, Azeez Babatunde.

“A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two locally-made pistols, two unexpended cartridges, and a knife. An investigation is ongoing.”
