Gunmen have kidnapped a popular Archbishop in Anambra State, Uka Uka Osim of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star in Abia State.
Saturday Telegraph gathered that the cleric was kidnapped alongside his wife, Anne Osim, and son, Roland Uka Osim, as well as three other clergymen from the ministry.
They were all kidnapped on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, while travelling to Awka, the capital of Anambra State. Azuka Ochu, Moses Okafor, and Anderson Akwazie are the other three priests abducte.
According to the report, they were supposedly on evangelical missions when the gunmen ambushed them.
Confirming the incident to journalists on Friday, the administrator of the spiritual body BCS in Abia State, Bishop Denis Onuoha said that four days later, the kidnappers had not contacted anyone.
“We are very worried, but we are assured that the Almighty Father, whom they worship and work for with total devotion, will help them out,” Bishop Onuoha told reporters.
The clergyman however urged security services to aid and rescue the clergymen, saying that the church has begun profound prayers in the hope that the Archbishop and his colleagues will be rescued unharmed.
