Gunmen Abduct Prominent First Class Monarch, Kill Palace Staff

The traditional ruler of Oghara in the Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of the state of Kogi has been kidnapped.

It was reported that gunmen invaded his palace early Tuesday morning.

It was gathered that during the attack, a domestic worker identified as Toyin Onare was fatally shot.

In addition, Chiefs (Pa.) David Obadofin and Temidayo Elewa were kidnapped.

SP William Aya, spokesman for the Kogi state police command, confirmed the incident, stating that the thugs arrived at the palace around 3 a.m. and fired randomly before gaining access.

Aya added that Chief Obadofin, a major cashew farmer and a traditional leader, was resting in front of his home at the time of the attack with one of his sons.

According to him, the gunmen took the traditional ruler and Temidayo into the bush, but one person managed to escape.

He stated that Toyin, who was shot at the palace, did not die instantly, but his death was confirmed at the General Hospital in Kabba, the LGA’s headquarters.

SP Aya added that the state police commissioner, Hakeem Yusuf, had dispatched a tactical team to the area to apprehend the criminals and rescue the victim.
