Gunmen kill soldier at Ebonyi checkpoint


Ebonyi State Government on Thursday confirmed the killing of a soldier at a boundary between Ebonyi and Enugu state

It called on security agents in the State to bring the killers to book.

The incident, The Nation learnt, happened at the boundary between Uburu community in the Ebonyi and neighbouring Mpu, Enugu state .

The gunmen had on Tuesday killed a soldier on duty at the boundary.

Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Uchenna Orji, confirmed this in Abakaliki the state capital while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.

“People try to incite politicians against the other and communities against the other and these are what cause these violent killings in the State,” he said

Orji commended Ebubeagu security outfit in the State for complimenting security agents in the state to maintain law and order

He said the State Government has noted the renewed hostilities between the people of Isinkwo and Abaomege in Onicha local government area of the state and called on the people to embrace peace.
