Ibadan robbery: Police insists justice will be served


Sequel to the reported incidence of armed robbery incidence at Idi ape area of Ibadan earlier today, the police command in Oyo state have reacted to the ugly incidence.

In a press release made available to The Lagosian, the spokesperson for the command, SP. ADEWALE OSIFESO confirmed that a group of 10 masked armed robbers attacked a bullion van around traffic light area, Idi-Ape junction at Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo state.

According to Osifeso, at the point of the bloody encounter, there was a gun battle between men of the underground and Police Officers escorting the bullion van. This left one of the armed robbers disarmed by the police.

The Police PRO further stated that the ensuing gun battle led to the death of two police officers and one civilian onlooker leaving the fleeing gang of robbers with multiple degrees of gun wounds. Sadly, the armed robbers made away with an undisclosed amount of money.

SP Osifeso implored the general public to assist the police in nabbing the rest members of the armed gang.

He said : “The citizenry are hereby enjoined not to panic as efforts are in top gear to track down and apprehend the criminal gang, the Oyo State Police Command seeks the cooperation of the good people of the State in providing necessary information to help maintain the relative peace and tranquility being enjoyed in the State. As always, if you see something, say something”.
