Medview Airline Managing Director, Muneer Bankole, has been quizzed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged diversion of hajj funds.
Bankole was detained at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, after an invitation by investigators.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the matter is a case of alleged diversion.
Bankole is accused of retaining 50 per cent of funds paid by the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON).
The businessman allegedly failed to return the sum of $900,000 for the airlift of pilgrims in 2019.
The EFCC asked him to explain the non-execution of the contract despite payment.
Head of Media, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed Bankole was grilled. The anti-graft commission may charge him to court.
Dailypost, however, gathered that the former District Manager, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, is seeking a soft landing.
This includes a full refund to NAHCON and a letter of apology to the Federal Government.
