Teacher Arraigned For Defiling 7-Year-Old Student In Adamawa

A Jimeta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Yola, Adamawa State, on Friday ordered the remand of Adamu Ayuba, a 37-year-old teacher, in a correctional facility for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old student.

The police charged Ayuba of Rawani, Jambutu Local Government Area with defilement under Section 211 of the Adamawa State Penal Code in which he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Musa Adamu, Chief Magistrate delayed the case till May 29 to allow the police to conduct more investigations.

“This case has been adjourned until May 29, to enable the police to finish their investigation and to forward the case file to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP)for legal advice,” the Chief Magistrate said.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, ASP Ezra Bulus, informed the court that the complainant, Fatima Isah, the minor’s mother, reported the in accident to the police station on May 2 at around 6:00 p.m.

Bulus claimed that the complainant’s daughter, a student at Anur Modern Academy Yola, returned from school on April 29 and complained of terrible aches in her private parts.

The attorney informed the court that the claimed offence was criminal in character and required legal assistance, and asked the court to defer the case until May 29.

He stated that the offence violated Section 211 of Adamawa’s Penal Code Law, 2018.
