Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano, and the Commissioner of Police in the state have been ordered to remove the entire blocks mounted across all major roads in the state as they have no power to do so
Justice Ike Ogu of the state High Court gave the order in a judgement delivered yesterday on the case filed by one Francis Moneke against the state government at the court.
The judge ruled that the illegal blockage on the roads violated the applicant’s right to freedom of movement and that both the state government and the police had no legal justification to mount roadblocks in the guise of curtailing insecurity in the state.
The court further ordered the respondents to pay some amount of money to the applicant as compensation for the violation of his right to freedom of movement.
