The Nasarawa State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of three suspected kidnappers in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects who are Babangida Abdullahi (29), Mohammed Abubakar (27), and Yakubu Sani (30), were accused of allegedly conspiring to abduct Ibrahim Idris, an uncle of one of the suspects.

According to a press release signed by the State’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the suspects phoned Idris and threatened to kidnap him unless he paid N2 million.

Nansel alleged that Idris agreed and left the money at a location provided by the suspects out of fear of being kidnapped.

He further stated that the suspects collected the money and distributed it among themselves.

“The suspects allegedly conspired among themselves and placed a call across to one Ibrahim Idris of the same address, an uncle to one of the suspects.

“They threatened to kidnap him if he didn’t pay a ransom of Two Million Naira.

“Scared of being kidnapped, the victim dropped the total sum requested by the suspects at their preferred location; after which they picked it up and shared it among themselves.” Nansel stated in the press release .

The PPRO reported that the captured individuals have confessed to the crime, and efforts are underway to apprehend another syndicate member who narrowly eluded arrest.
